Quick answer: Measure your baby's foot from the back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe, then choose the size whose foot length is equal to or just above that number. Newborns to 6 months usually measure up to 3.7" (9.5 cm); 6–12 months up to 4.3" (11 cm); 12–18 months up to 4.9" (12.5 cm); 18–24 months up to 5.5" (14 cm); and 24–36 months up to 6" (15.4 cm). If your baby is between sizes, size up.

Age ranges are only a guide. Babies grow at different speeds, so foot length is always the better number to go by.
How to measure your baby's feet at home
- Place a sheet of paper on a hard floor, or against a book if your baby is not standing yet.
- Hold the foot flat on the paper with the heel touching the edge.
- Mark the tip of the longest toe (it is not always the big toe).
- Measure from the edge to the mark in inches or centimeters.
- Measure both feet and use the longer one.
Measure in the afternoon if you can, when feet are slightly larger, and try to measure while your baby is calm. Wiggly toes make for a short reading.
How much room should baby booties have?
Soft booties should fit snugly without pressing on the toes. For chubby or wide feet, add about 0.1" (3 mm) to the measurement before choosing a size. Booties with adjustable snaps, like our fleece booties, can be tightened or loosened across three levels, which gives a little more flexibility between sizes.
How often should I re-measure?
Baby feet grow quickly in the first year. Checking every 6–8 weeks under 12 months and every 2–3 months after that is a simple habit. If the toes reach the front seam or the elastic leaves red marks, it is time for the next size.
